Introduction to the Heart Series

The heart is often described as the center of our inner life—the place where our thoughts, emotions, desires, and intentions reside. It shapes how we respond to people, situations, and even to God Himself.

Scripture reminds us, however, that the human heart is complex. Left to itself, it can be misleading and influenced by brokenness, emotion, and sin. The prophet Jeremiah speaks plainly about this reality, reminding us that the heart, apart from God, cannot always be trusted to lead us rightly.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?
I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.”

Jeremiah 17:9–10

This does not mean that God abandons us because of the condition of our hearts. Instead, it reveals why we need Him. God alone is able to search, examine, cleanse, and transform the heart. He sees beneath the surface—beyond appearances—and lovingly works within us to align our hearts with His will.

This series will explore what Scripture teaches about the heart: how it can be wounded, guarded, renewed, and healed, and how surrendering our hearts to God allows Him to do a deeper work in us than we could ever do on our own.

As we begin this journey, may we invite the Lord to search our hearts, reveal truth, and shape us from the inside out.

Questions to Ponder:

  • Where is your heart?
  • What is in your heart?
  • What does your heart treasure?

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”Matthew 6:21

Scripture reminds us that everything flows from the heart, and understanding it is essential to spiritual growth and wholeness.

This upcoming series will invite reflection, honesty, and healing. Stay tuned—you won’t want to miss what God reveals as we explore the heart.
