I am often reminded of how parents instruct their children to do certain things—and how obedience is expected. When a child chooses not to obey, correction follows, not out of harm, but out of love and guidance. In much the same way, God is our loving Father, and He desires our obedience as His children.
Obedience is not always easy, especially when God asks us to do something that challenges our comfort, our pride, or our understanding. Yet Scripture reminds us that obedience is better than sacrifice. God is not merely looking for what we offer Him; He is looking for hearts that are willing to follow Him.
This morning, as I sought the Lord for guidance—not only for my day but even for my blogging—I clearly sensed the word obedience. I hesitated. I was reluctant to write about it. Yet in that moment, I was reminded of times when I did not obey what God instructed me to do or say. I felt convicted, repented quickly, and was reminded that Jesus loves us even in our shortcomings.
There were also moments when I chose to obey God immediately—speaking when He told me to speak, moving when He told me to move. Fear showed up. Discomfort followed. At times, I even felt embarrassed. But obedience mattered more than how I felt or how I appeared. In the end, my “yes” to God was what truly mattered.
A life fully surrendered to Christ is a life that chooses obedience—at all costs. Even when it feels uncomfortable. Even when it stretches us. Even when it challenges our emotions or our image.
God is not asking for perfection; He is asking for obedience. His instructions are always rooted in love, purpose, and growth.
As James 1:22 reminds us:
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
Let the Word of God be your foundation. Allow it to guide your actions, shape your obedience, and anchor your surrender. When we obey the Lord—regardless of how it makes us feel or look—we walk in alignment with His will, and that is where true surrender begins.
Stay tuned as we continue the journey into A Life Fully Surrendered to Christ.
