“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love.”
— Ephesians 3:17 (NKJV)
What are you rooted and grounded in?
To be rooted means to be firmly planted—to draw nourishment, strength, and life from a reliable source. To be grounded means having a strong and unshakable foundation. In the same way that a tree cannot survive without healthy roots, we cannot thrive without a solid spiritual foundation.
Being rooted in God’s Word means anchoring our lives in His truth and drawing daily from it for direction, peace, comfort, courage, and strength. Yet, there are times when we are tempted to follow paths that look promising but ultimately lead us away from stability and purpose.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly… But his delight is in the law of the Lord… He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.”
— Psalm 1:1–3 (NKJV)
Living by God’s principles is what has shaped who I am and continues to shape who I am becoming. Life is unpredictable, and the storms of life can be relentless. But I have learned that when your foundation is built on God’s Word, you are able to stand—even when everything around you feels uncertain.
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
— Matthew 7:24–25 (NKJV)
I have faced many struggles and challenges, but through every season, I’ve discovered that the Word of God is both nourishment and medicine. It strengthens the weary, heals the broken, and equips us to endure. When we neglect that nourishment, we become vulnerable—unable to withstand the pressures and trials that arise. But when we remain rooted in Him, we are sustained.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
Today’s encouragement is simple: examine your foundation. Ask yourself where you are drawing your strength from. Are you rooted in something temporary, or grounded in something eternal?
